Adios FLNGS!

Posted by: drivenbyboredom

Well, my two weeks are over. It was great hanging out with you guys. I would like to thank everyone at FLNGS for letting me show off my work and being awesome photographers (and models Amanda). This has been a very weird week for me as one of my closest friends died on Monday and forcing myself to update this blog the last few days has been good for me I think. I also had some good things happen this week with a big feature in the Village Voice and booking my biggest add gig to date yesterday. It is really weird how everything works.

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed my work. If you want to see more of it you should check out my blog Driven By Boredom. It's pretty much all my digital stuff over there, but I am going to get a fine art site set up one of these days. You can also follow me on Tumblr or Twitter if you are into that sort of thing. So, thanks again and I just wanted to leave you with this song written by my friend Ross Harman called "Will You Love Me When I'm Gone?" I do love him now that he's gone, and I hope you guys will still love me now that I am gone.  Enjoy a few more pictures. Adios.

The Polaroid Project

Posted by: drivenbyboredom

I think the first naked photo I ever took was when I was 19 and my girlfriend at the time bought me a Barbie Polaroid camera as a present. She was going home to Hawaii for a month and she wanted to leave me with some photos so I wouldn't be tempted to cheat on her.  She also offered me a challenge. She told me that if I could shoot 6 girls topless she would make a sex tape with me. Unfortunately, I couldn't pull it off.  But I did start the basis of a collection that I have been working on for the last decade.

In the 11 years since I shot that first girl I have photographed well over 300 different girls topless on Polaroid film. The Barbie camera quickly broke and I started using my mom's old Spectra and when that broke I started shooting with a cheap Polaroid 600 camera. I only have a few shots of 600 left and I am saving them for a special occasion.

In 2002 my apartment almost burned to the ground. When my windows melted and smoke started pouring in I ran out into the streets in my underwear. The only two things I grabbed were my Polaroids and my camera. (I couldn't get my computer unplugged from the wall fast enough.) After that happened I remembered thinking that these Polaroids might be the most artistic thing I have ever done. I mean you are supposed to care about art and these memories of the girls I've loved and friends I made and these moments we shared were captured in these Polaroids. I realized just how much these Polaroids really meant to me.

A few years ago I decided I should try to turn these into a book. I decided that what was important about these photos are the memories that go with them so I started writing short stories about each girl in the Polaroid. They are only about a paragraph long but they talk about how I met the girl or what they mean to me or how her Polaroid came to be. Each page of the book would be a memory.  Unfortunately the litterary agent I was working with got laid off and I haven't really known how to go about pitching this book.  If anyone has any ideas for it, let me know.

But since tomorrow is my last day, I really wanted to wait until now to share these with you because they are some of the most important photographs of my career. Not only do they mean a great deal to me but selections from the series have been seen by more people than just about any other photos I have taken. A gallery of them on my site went viral at some point and they were all over the internet. Stern Magazine even published a few of them.. Plus the Polaroid Project was the basis for my (horribly shot) Awkward Nudes series and my Nascent Sexuality Polaroid Map. The Polaroid Map is actually one of my favorite projects ever. Just know, that

Anyway, sorry for all of the words. Here are some tits. See you guys tomorrow.

PS. Sorry for the shitty scans.

Let's Eat

Posted by: drivenbyboredom

I have this idea of doing an old school black and white photocopied zine of nothing but food related photos. I used to make zines that way in the mid 90's in my punk rock days and I figure I should probably do it again.  I have a folder on my computer with about 400 35mm shots of food just waiting for me to get off my ass and make this zine. Here are some selections from that folder...

Do you guys know who the Hipster Grifter is? If not you should Google her. I made internet history ages ago when I posted naked pictures of her on my site that a friend sent me. Little did I know that no one else had the photos and they quickly became a viral sensation. When the Hipster Grifter (aka Kari Ferrell) got out of jail she hit me up and told me she wanted to shoot with me. When it came down to it the shoot was rushed and not that fantastic, but after we played dress up and I took 35mm photos of her wearing different get ups. I am not sure why but it seemed like a good idea at the time.  I was going to post them all here but I decided there are too many so I decided to make this a cross post with my website. So check out the photos below and then click here to see the full gallery of Hipster Grifter disguises.

BTS

Posted by: drivenbyboredom

I have never really wanted to shoot actual pornography. My stuff is pretty tame by a lot of standards, but I was at the AVN Awards a few years ago and I met a director named Joe Gallant. He was an amazing guy and when we got back to NYC he asked me to play a paparazzi in a film he was making called Hell's Kittens. I agreed and after my part was over he told me I could hang out on set if I wanted. I shot some behind the scenes photos and I love them. It really made me want to do fine art BTS porn shots. I am sure it has been done a hundred times before but I thought it would be a fun project.

A year or so later I was in LA when Burning Angel was making their film LA Pink. I hung out on set for a day and shot a few rolls of film. I have never really done anything with the shots I took so you are seeing them for the first time here. I would love to shoot more stuff like this but I don't really know anyone making adult films in NYC and I unfortunatley only get out to LA a few times a year.

Anyway, if you want you can check out my digital BTS shots from Hell's Kittens here, and the hardcore shots from it here.

Also, for those of you looking to see my debut role in Hell's Kittens you will be saddened to know that the production company making the film folded before it was ever released. Luckily for you, I play "guy texting" in a two second B Roll scene in LA Pink.

America

Posted by: drivenbyboredom

If I have ever had a muse that muse would be America. Unfortunately she lives nowhere near me. Last March we coincidentally were both in Orlando and we decided to go to Disney World together. I shot a few rolls of film from our trip and although these photos are far from sexually explicit they are still pretty damn sexy. Also, these are the only shots I have previously published before. You can see the rest of the series here.
